Police: Middletown Teens Face Marijuana, Xanax Possession Charges

On Aug. 10 at 9:10 p.m., Patrolman Richard Fulham was on patrol in the area of the Lincroft McDonald’s when he observed a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot.

When Officer Fulham approached the vehicle, he detected the odor of raw marijuana coming from inside the car.

He conducted an investigation, recovered the marijuana and arrested and charged Sean Powers, 19, of Monmouth Avenue, Navesink, with possession of under 50 grams of marijuana, a disorderly persons offense.

Powers was transported to police headquarters where he was processed and released pending a court date.

On Aug. 10 at 6:30 p.m., Patrolman Christopher Dee and Patrolman Raymond Sofield of the Quality of Life Unit responded to the area of the 7-11 store, Route 35, to back up Patrolman Kevin Gardiner, who had a vehicle stopped at that location.

Upon arrival, Officer Sofield detected a strong odor of raw marijuana coming from inside the car.

The officers conducted an investigation that resulted in the recovery of marijuana and Xanax pills from the vehicle and the arrests of Christopher Difilippo-Campbell, 18, from Bayside Parkway, Middletown, Arthur Mathurin, 19, of Abby Road, Middletown, NJ, and a 17-year-old female juvenile from the Port Monmouth section of the township.

All three were transported to police headquarters where they were charged with possession of under 50 grams of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, unlawful possession of Xanax, and possession with the intent to distribute less than one ounce of marijuana.

They were processed and released pending a court date.
