Police Searching for Cypress Burglar

The following information was obtained directly from Middletown Township Police Department records. It does not indicate a conviction.

After being nabbed in the act by a neighbor, a suspected burglar is on the loose and police are on the hunt for him.

On Nov. 8 at noon, a neighbor caught an alleged burglar in the act of fleeing a Cypress Neck Road home, stolen property in hand, after breaking a window in the back of the home to enter, police said.

A brief struggle ensued in the driveway to the home between the neighbor and the suspect, during which the suspect dropped the stolen property and fled the area in a silver four-door Audi.

Police believe the suspect may be responsible for several other recent burglaries, which have occurred during late morning and early afternoon hours in the neighborhood.

Police have signed complaints for burglary, criminal mischief and theft, for the initial crime, which was then elevated to strong-armed robbery and aggravated assault as a result of the struggle with the neighbor.

Police have identified a suspect and are actively attempting to locate and arrest him at this time.  The investigation is being conducted by Detectives First Class, Adam Finck, Bill Strohkirch and Danny Sullivan.

Residents can help safeguard their neighborhood by remaining vigilant and immediately calling the Police at 732-615-2100 to report any suspicious persons or activity.
