Teen Charged with Credit Card Fraud

The following information was obtained directly from Middletown Township Police Department records. It does not indicate a conviction.

A Middletown teen who was employed pumping gas at a local gas station/convenience store stands accused of bilking people of about $1,200 in double gas charges.

On Aug. 31 at 1:30 p.m., Patrolman Keith Hirschbein responded to the WAWA store, Route 36, in reference to a report of a credit card fraud.

Upon arrival store security advised the officer that a store employee, identified as Devin Daniels, 19, of Ocean Avenue, Middletown, allegedly fraudulently used customer credit cards to steal approximately $1,200.

Officer Hirschbein conducted an investigation and determined that Daniels, who served as a gas attendant, allegedly double charged customers who purchased gas and kept the extra money for himself.

He was arrested and charged with credit card fraud.

Officer Hirschbein also located two outstanding contempt of court warrants for Daniels arrest issued by the Keansburg Municipal Court.

He was held pending bail being set.
