Two in Port Monmouth Indicted on Heroin, Steroid Possession Charges

Both live on the same street in town.

Two Port Monmouth residents residing at different addresses on Pinehurst Avenue, have been indicted by a grand jury on drug charges. 

Lauren Watson, 22, and Robert Backovsky, 22, will stand trial on charges that they were in possession of heroin and methandrostenolone (an anabolic steroid) on Sept. 15. 

They were arrested on that date by Middletown Police. Pinehurst is a residential street near the junction of Wilson Avenue and Main Street.

Both are third degree crimes. A third degree crime may result in 3-5 years if a defendant is convicted on a charge. 

The grand jury's decision is not a conviction; it is a formal charge. The defendants are innocent until proven guilty.
