Union Beach Man, 21, Indicted on Charges of Forgery, Theft, Heroin Possession

A Monmouth County Grand Jury has handed up an indictment charging a 21-year old man from Union Beach with four criminal offenses that allegedly occurred between November 16-17, 2013.

According to the May 21 indictment, Nicholas J. Muscenti, 21, of Aumack Ave. in Union Beach will stand trial on one count that he stole jewelry from another person in the Middletown-Keansburg area, valued at more than $500.

He is also facing one count of forging a check from that same person's bank account and one count of uttering a forged instrument for presenting the fraudulent check to a cash checking establishment in Keansburg and Eatontown.

Additionally, he faces one count of heroin possession in Middletown.

All four charges are offenses of the third degree, which carry the potential for 3-5 years in prison if convicted.

The indictment is not a finding of guilt or a conviction, but merely a formal charge. Every defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
