UPDATE: Police ID victim in fatal crash

Pedestrian died at the scene after collision with vehicle while crossing Route 36 near Thompson Avenue in Leonardo section, police report.

A township man died Wednesday night right after being struck by a motor vehicle according to Middletown Township Police.

The preliminary police investigation has identified the accident victim as William L. Segebush, 66, of Middletown, according to of the Middletown Township Police Department's

Segebush was hit by a vehicle traveling westbound on Route 36 just west of the highway’s intersection with Thompson Avenue at 5:48 p.m, Deickmann said.

The vehicle was operated by a resident of the Leonardo section who has not been identified by police.

Segebush sustained serious injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, Deickmann said.

The crash remains under investigation by Cpl. Cliff O’Hara and Patrolman Darrin Simon from the police department’s Traffic Bureau, with assistance from Patrolman Nick Caprio and Detective First Class Peter White. 

Witnesses to the crash or anyone who can provide police with additional information are asked to contact the deparment's at 732-615-2045.
