Mount Mitchill 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony

The Monmouth County Parks System is holding a 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony at Mount Mitchill Scenic Overlook in Atlantic Highlands, beginning at 2 p.m.

The event is open to all.

There will be off-site parking available at the Claypit Creek section of Hartshorne Woods Park for this event. Shuttle buses will be provided from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Parking directions:

From Garden State Parkway southbound: Take exit 109, then turn left onto Route 520. Take jughandle for Half Mile Road. Follow directions below ** for northbound Parkway.

From Garden State Parkway northbound: Take exit 109 and go straight at exit. ** Follow Half Mile Road to end. Turn right at traffic light onto East Front Street. Follow East Front Street to Hubbard Avenue. Turn left onto Hubbard Avenue and follow 0.6 miles to Navesink River Road. Turn right onto Navesink River Road and continue as it turns into Locust Pointe Road. Turn right onto Locust Avenue. The entrance will be on the right.

 
From Route 35: Follow State Highway 35 to Navesink River Road (just north of Cooper Avenue Bridge that leads to Red Bank.) If traveling northbound, turn right. If traveling southbound, use jughandle to make left turn. Travel east and continue as it turns into Locust Pointe Road. Turn right onto Locust Avenue. The entrance will be on the right.
