Fiore: Middletown Day to Return in 2012

Mayor invites residents to serve on new all-volunteer Middletown Day Committee.

As 2012 begins, newly re-elected has resolved to bring to this year's calendar.

During his address at today's Middletown re-organization meeting, Fiore acknowledged last year's glaring omission of the annual community fair. Usually held annually in late September, Middletown Day fell under township's budget axe earlier in 2011.

This year, Fiore is seeking volunteers to raise the cash and organize an event that will highlight township businesses and organizations.

"Our goal for 2012 is to bring back Middletown Day by establishing a ," Fiore said. "This committee will be responsible for the fundraising, planning, and execution of the event."

Organizers could use the resources of the township's "" program, a campaign designed to promote patronizing of local small businesses, to encourage merchants to participate in the event.

"Middletown Day should be an opportunity for us to help showcase our small businesses and other organizations in town through our Buy Middletown initiative," Fiore said.

"Together, we should be able to bring back an event tht brings us together to celebrate our community and everything that makes this community special," he concluded.

Fiore urged residents interested in serving on the forthcoming Middletown Day Committee to contact his office at township hall. Potential volunteers can also send their information to the township's available on the municipal Web site.
