Local Teams and Organizations Honored by Committee

The Middletown Committee honored multiple organizations and teams at their May 21 Committee Meeting.

The main meeting room in was packed last Monday, May 21 as the Middletown Committee presented certificates to two sport teams and proclamations to multiple local organizations.

The two sport teams honored at the meeting were the Middletown Eagles Pee Wee Cheer Team and eight members of the Jersey Shore Eighth Grade All Stars. The cheer leaders were acknowledged for placing second Nationwide in the Novice, Small Division at the 2011 American Youth Cheer Championship. The eight boys were acknowledged for playing in the 2011 American Youth Football Eighth Grade All Star National Championship.

In addition to the sport teams, the Committee proclaimed May as Older American Month, declared their support in the Relay for Life Cancer Foundation, proclaimed their support for Buddy Poppy Month with the Middletown VFW, and declared National Youth Week sponsored by the Middletown Elks.

Oh, I am so glad to see that you are preserving history. My husband & I visited your town aRead More couple of weeks ago. My 9th Great Grandfather Thomas Whitlock is buried in the Old First Baptist Church yard. I was honored to stand on the porch of the home he helped build and lived in at Shoal Harbor. The name has changed to the Wilson-Seabrook House and now the Bayshore Activities Center. Wow! Too bad all the museum pieces were removed. I would love to have seen them.
