Oxley Nominated For Superior Court Judgeship
Former mayor of Middletown and Monmouth County Sheriff may become judge.
Gov. Chris Christie has nominated former Monmouth County Sheriff Joseph Oxley for a Superior Court judgeship, according to a release.
Oxley, of Middletown, was also nominated for the judgeship in the 215th legislative session, but lawmakers never voted on the appointments before the session ended.
Christie’s nominations are subject to the advice and consent of the state Senate.

Oxley served as Middetown Township's mayor and deputy mayor before winning election to the sheriff's office in 1995. Oxley served as Monmouth County Sheriff from 1996 to 2007. In 2008, he was elected to a two-year term as head of the Monmouth County Republican Party. He was also a one-time assistant prosecutor in the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office.
