Police Bug, Trap, Nab Jewelry Thief

By offering to help a Navesink homeowner rid pests from her home, an alleged entered her residence and helped himself to $10,000 worth of bling, Middletown Township police reported.
Thanks to someone putting a bug in the ears of township police, the suspect now in custody, Ryan C. Jones, won't be pestering the unidentified homeowner anymore.

Jones, 35, of East Mount Avenue in Atlantic Highlands was arrested on Wednesday after township police received information the day before that lead to his capture according to Detective Lt. Stephen F. Dollinger.
Police had been searching for Jones since Nov. 24 when he reportedly burglarized the Berman Boulevard home in the township's Navesink section. Pretending to be a self-employed exterminator, Ryan had told the homeowner that he would treat an undetermined infestation in the house, Dollinger said.

Once he was inside, Jones allegedly took the jewelry and left the home according to Dollinger.
Police would not release a photo of Jones.
Jones faces charges of theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property. He is being held in the in Freehold on $20,000 full cash bail as ordered by Municipal Court Judge Richard B. Thompson.
