Superstorm Sandy Resource Fair at the VFW April 11

Come meet face to face with people who represent agencies who want to help people recover from the aftermath of the Oct. 29 hurricane.

Middletown Township is holding a Superstorm Sandy Resource Fair on Thursday, April 11th from 2-8 p.m. at the Middletown VFW 2179, 1 Veterans Lane. The VFW is located on Route 36 in Port Monmouth (next to Foodtown.)

The fair, which is being organized by the 9-member Executive Board of the 2013 Middletown Volunteer Corps, will include representatives from government agencies, recovery assistance groups and other charity organizations that can aid in the recovery process.

"The best thing about this fair is that they are going to have a bunch of resources in one place," said Deputy Mayor Stephanie Murray. "You can speak to FEMA and then you can go speak to the township planning department. It should be conducive to a good flow of information."

The idea of hosting a Middletown-focused post-Sandy resource fair was one of the first things on the list when the Volunteer Corps formed in January. Members of the board, such as Chairwoman Tracey Keogh and Vice Chairwoman Holly Morgan, had been helping out at the Croydon Hall Relief Center after Sandy. During that time they distributed over 400 "Needs Assessment Forms" to create a database that could help them connect people to opportunities. The form can be downloaded from the township website.
