I have come to the conclusion that I will never get my power back again. That is all thank you. By the way I live in the red headed step-child of Middletown....Belford.

Live in River Plaza, every street surrounding and
traffic light at Hubbard and Navesink River Rd got power last night EXCEPT ours. Tree on wires at end of driveway reported numerous times, jcp&l drove down road twice but never sent tree service. Flagge down municip

...Flagged down municipal employees driving up and down our street two days ago said nothing they can do so I understand your frustration.
debbie November 3, 2012 at 12:25 pm
Rch-I have walked the neighborhood a few times since the storm. There are at least 4 sets of wires down that are clearly visible. You know whats not visible? JCP&L. I have not seen a single power company truck in 6 days. I know they say the problem may not be at the local level blah blah blah. But it clearly is at a local level when you and I can see lines in the street. The lucky ones are the ones with no trees laying on power lines. They're the ones with their power back already. We are screwed, we must be the 14 day ones they are talking about.
Judith November 3, 2012 at 01:30 pm
If all you lost was power you are one of the lucky ones.
Judy Musa November 3, 2012 at 02:19 pm
While you wait for power, use daylight to go through your possessions & bring new & gently used clothes, blankets, bedding, non-perishable foods, baby supplies, personal hygiene products, store gift cards to Middletown school polling locations on tues nov 6 when you vote. Middletown schools with each school's PTA - Pfa organizations are asking for donations on that day & will work with Middletown to get items distributed to the families who lost their homes to the storm. Thanks for passing the word.
debbie November 3, 2012 at 02:52 pm
Judith I understand that many have lost their homes. I am in no way trying to compare myself to them. We have friends who have lost their home so I am aware that I am fortunate. These forums give people a place to vent their frustrations and thats what I'm doing as opposed to taking it out on family and friends
. As an aside there are finally tree removal crews in the neighborhood. Neighbors were actually flagging the truck down to tell them where trees were on lines. Hopefully the power companies will be the next to show up. By the way those tree removal guys are quick! In the mean time I will definitely bring my extra clothes to the polling stations to help out.

Kings highway east has trees in wires since day one with no action at all. Many of the damaged poles are Verizon and JCPL has to wait for Verizon to replace the pole have not heard what Verizon is doing!
rch November 3, 2012 at 03:25 pm
Judith, please don't presume I don't know how lucky we are. I volunteered this week at the MAC center where there were 1000 evacuated residents at the begining of the week. 300 were brought up here from Atlantic City. I am more than empathetic and distressed by what has happened to those who are facing displacement, loss of home and loved ones. It is as Debbie says, frustration. JCP&L sends a tree crew to work on only one of the downed trees and ignored the other four houses away which is preventing an entire neighborhood from getting power. We have a 95 yr old woman here.
Debbie, I am glad for you but we haven't seen a.y trucks where we are.
Tara T November 3, 2012 at 03:30 pm
N Middletown, no power since Monday afternoon. JCP&L you are such a joke.
debbie November 3, 2012 at 03:31 pm
Rch I know what you mean they cut down one large tree on a line but there was another two houses away that they left???? I would think the township would have their workers going up and down streets to see the damage and noting it so that crews can do a systematic approach to the removal process. Instead you have to flag down trucks and tell them yourself and even then they miss entire trees that are right in front of them. I hope they get to you soon. Maybe call the township although I doubt they will have an answer.

My 9th Great Grandfather Thomas Whitlock is buried in the Old First Baptist Church yard. I was honored to stand on the porch of the home he helped build and lived in at Shoal Harbor.
