Middletown Students Swap Halloween Candy at Whole Foods

On November 2, families from River Plaza, New Monmouth, Port Monmouth, and Middletown Village Elementary Schools traded in their Halloween candy for a healthy snack at Whole Foods Market in Middletown.  Students received their pick from a wide variety of protein bars and Pirate Booty.  The collected treats will be donated to US troops serving overseas, and Holiday Express.

"Thank you to all who came out and participated and to Whole Foods for their generosity.  We hope to do it again in the future," stated River Plaza School Nurse, Casey Burdge.

Middletown Township school nurses, staff, students and families are participating in a school health initiative called the Wellness Revolution.  The Wellness Revolution is the result of a partnership between Johnson & Johnson and Rutgers, The State University, and focuses on improving nutrition, increasing daily physical activity and decreasing screen time (computers, video games and television).
