Supervisor of Security Sought By Middletown Board of Education

The board is looking for someone to oversee district security staff.

The Middletown Board of Education announced Wednesday that it is looking to hire a Supervisor of Security to oversee school security guards at the district's three middle schools and two high schools.

In its February newsletter, the Board of Education said it is currently enhancing security at building entrances through procedures and building upgrades, expanding surveillance capabilities and refining emergency management plans.

In response to questions from the public at Wednesday night's board meeting, Superintendent William O. George said that the Supervisor would not be armed. The budgeted salary for the new position is more similar to a starting teacher's salary as opposed to an administrator's, he said.
