Middletown Township Historical Society - "U-Boat Acitivity Off the New Jersey Coast in World War II

The Middletown Township Historical Society will feature Dan Lieb of the New Jersey Historic Divers Association at its June 18, 7:30PM meeting at the MacLeod-Rice House, Croydon Hall, 900 Leonardville Road, Leonardo.

Dan will talk on "U-Boat Acitivity Off the New Jersey Coast in World War II." Dan, who is an accomplished diver and key organizer of the New Jersey Shipwreck Museum at InfoAge in Wall, will review how close to our shore enemy U-Boats operated, and tell about the toll taken off the New Jersey coast.

It is a phase of the war that is little-known and often subject of rumors and half-truths. The U-Boat was the original weapon of terror in the 20th century, while the New Jersey shore was a place of some of its horrific losses. Dan has spoken to us several times before. His presentations are not only informative, but are typically on subjects that deserve greater familiarity and awareness.
