Fiscal Award for M'town Schools

District earns Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting

In recognition of what has been viewed as excellent fiscal reporting in 2011, the recently received the Association of School Business Officials International’s (ASBO) Certificate of Excellence (COE) in Financial Reporting award.

“Financial reporting and accountability to the residents of is a high priority for the board and the administration,” Board of Education President Joan Minnuies said. “This achievement recognizes the district’s efforts in these areas.”

Last year being the first that the district participated in the program, the award recognized its Comprehensive Annual Financial Report as one that “met or exceeded the program’s high standards for transparency, financial reporting and accountability,” a released statement said.

Recognition through the COE program can help strengthen a district’s presentation for bond issuance statements and promotes a high level of financial reporting, the statement added.

The Association of School Business Officials International (ASBO), founded in 1910, is a professional association of more than 5,000 members that provides programs and services to promote the highest standards of school business management practices, professional growth, and the effective use of educational resources.
