Once again the Middletown High School South Screaming Eagle Marching Band represented our town in the New York City St. Patrick's Day Parade. This parade is not only the largest St. Patrick’s Day parade in the world; it is the oldest, having been an annual New York City event since the 1760’s.

The Screaming Eagle Marching Band has been marching down 5th Avenue in Manhattan for over 15 years.  Not only does the Marching Band and Color Guard participate, but 8th grade band members from Thompson and Bayshore Middle Schools are also invited to attend.  The parade route extends for 1.5 miles and takes approximately 5 hours for the entire parade procession, more than 150,000 people, to complete.

Even though the weather was cold, the kids enjoyed a great day, having breakfast together before leaving for New York, huddling together waiting to step out onto 5th Avenue and marching with the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation.
