Government Meetings

The Recreation Advisory Commission will meet on Monday, August 27 at 7 p.m. The Commission will be held in the . The meeting is open to the public The Committee is tasked to provide guidance to the Township Committee and the Department of Recreation regarding recommendations of programs to meet the needs of the citizens of Middletown. For more information, please call 732-615-2015.

Mt. Vernon and the Murray Farmhouse were both built in the 18th-century by two ambitious men. Compare photos of the two dwellings to see the differences and similarities. The program will meet in the 1770 NJ State Historic Murray Farmhouse parlor. Special guests from the reenacting group ‘Past Muster’ as well as others will participate. Not necessary to commit to all sessions. Participants are asked to pre-register at least one week prior to each session.

Improv Show

The Count Basie Teen Improv Troupe Superstars is comprised of high school students from Monmouth and Ocean County who have joined together to form this highly trained comedy machine. More than 150 students auditioned, and now 16 have made the final cut, landing a coveted spot in the Troupe under the direction of teacher, Mike O’Keefe, who started NJ’s 1st improv comedy troupe. Admission costs $10, $5 ages 18 and under

Movie Night

The Free Summer Movie Series & Food Drive, hosted by Shore Flicks, LLC will be showing monthly movies in Middletown parks throughout the summer. This Friday is Hugo and it will be shown at the Tonya Keller community center on Bray Avenue. Support local food banks by bringing a donation. In the event of inclement weather, movies will be canceled.  Call the Recreation Department at (732) 615-2260 for more information.
