Weekend Outlook for August 11 & 12

Find out what is going on in Middletown this weekend.

This weekend in Middletown, temperatures will be in the 80s with a possibility of scattered thunderstorms Saturday evening.

Rent a canoe on Saturday or Sunday, August 11 and 12 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Thompson Park in Lincroft. Canoes will be available for rent at Marlu Lake for a paddle. All equipment is provided; a limited number of canoes are available. Cost is $15 per boat people for 2 hours. Up to three people can fit in a boat.

Children ages 8 through 13 can improve their Hockey & Skate Skills on Saturday, August 11 at 9:30am at Thompson Park in Lincroft. Participants may bring their own equipment or borrow the park’s equipment. Cost is $10 per person.

The 124th Annual Fireman's Fair of the Navesink Hook & Ladder Fire Co. #1, Middletown Township Fire Department, runs through Saturday, August 11 from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. each night at the Navesink Fire House - 141 Monmouth Ave in the Navesink Section of Middletown. Game stands include the Nickle Pitch, the Ring Toss, Sand Art, and a variety of games for very young children. There are also two rides available are the Navesink Cannonball train and the Fire Truck Ride. For more information visit navesinkfire.org. 

The VFW will hold its 5th annual picnic Sunday beginning at noon at VFW Post 2179 in Port Monmouth. Tickets are $15 in advance or $20 at the door. Children under 12 are free. The menu includes hamburgers, hot dogs, chicken, ribs, sausage, clams, corn-on-the-cob and watermelon. For more information call (732) 787-0999.

Frogs provide a source of enjoyment and cultural fascination as well as being an integral part of habitats around the world that is why Poricy Park will celebrate Frog Fest beginning at 3 p.m. on Sunday. Participants in this program will celebrate frogs with amphibian activity stations. Appropriate for frog lovers of all ages. Children must be supervised by an adult. Please register in advance. Meet at the Murray Pond. The cost is $5 members, $7 non-members or a $20 Special Family Rate (2 adults, 3 children).
