Off the Grid: What no Wireless?!

Megan Karlen, artist at Beauregard Fine Art Gallery, generally spends her days in her art studio; digital music on command, mini-fridge for snacks, fans and lights at her command.
But for one week, starting tomorrow, this artist will be living off the grid in one of the glorious Dune Shacks of Provincetown, MA.
"It's a residency I've been wanting to participate in for years. This is literally a dream come true" says Ms. Karlen.
Only 19 of these shacks, originally built in the 30's and 40's survive and they are now part of the Provincetown Compact, a non-profit that offers residencies three seasons of the year. There's no electricity, heat is from a wood stove, you bring your water in....
"I had to go out and buy a battery-operated boom box. I didn't even think they made them anymore!"
Preview the magic of these dunes here.
And stay tuned for the continuation of the story - and the art that comes from it.
Ms. Karlen will be announcing open studios in October.
