State Supreme Court Once Again Sides Against NJ Taxpayers

NJ Supreme Court Strikes Again!

On Monday the NJ State Supreme Court ruled once again against the state's taxpayers with its latest school funding decision.

Once again the taxpayers of NJ will foot another $500m towards the state's poorest and worst performing districts while districts like Middletown get caught holding the bag.

Despite the fact that these districts (known as Abbott districts) have been consistently charged with fraud, waste, and mismanagement, the state must continue to throw money at them to help correct their problems.

Billions of dollars have been spent on these districts over the past decade and test scores and student performance have not improved.  How much more could a district like Middletown do with just an extra $1m that we keep ourselves?

The state's school funding formula is broken and has been for a very long time.  While it is apparent that the Governor is aware of that it is just as obvious that the Assembly and Senate is not.

Senate President Sweeney and Assembly Speaker Oliver refuse to hear any nominations made by the Gov. Chris Christie for openings on the State Supreme Court.  As long as the taxpayers of New Jersey continue to allow these leaders to continue to stall the process, we will continue to throw money down the drain.

Mind you, this is the same pair that is forcing COAH down the throat of Middletown Township but don't get me started on that.  That's a topic I'll dedicate to it's own space.
