Middletown Fire Department's Navesink Hook and Ladder Company is celebrating its 125th anniversary this year.
The company was incorporated on May 1, 1886. To commemorate the occasion, the Township Committee issued a proclamation to mark this noteworthy event and thank every member for their unwavering commitment to the well-being of Middletown’s citizens.
The Navesink company is one of 11 fire companies in Middletown's all-volunteer department, which is the largest in the country, and, some say, the world. With more than 400 active members throughout the township, the department responds to hundreds of calls a year.

Navesink Hook and Ladder will commemorate its milestone with a celebration on June 18 beginning at 1 p.m. at the company's firehouse, located at 141 Monmouth Ave. in the Navesink section of Middletown.
