Middletown Teen Continues Fundraiser for Impact OASIS

Middletown High School South senior Philip Antone is continuing to fundraise for Impact OASIS with a July 30 Dining To Donate at the Applebee's in Middletown.

Middletown High School South senior Philip Antone is looking to put chickens not in every pot but in the farm centers of Middletown’s Impact Ongoing Autistic Success In Society (OASIS).

Antone, an active Boy Scout and avid athlete with autism at Middletown South, cannot wait for this upcoming year.

Not only will Antone will be graduating from high school but he will be working on his Eagle Scout Project in the fall at the Transitional Residential/Adult Independent Learning (TRAIL) Center, a center which he calls simply “great.”

The Middletown teen accompanied by his mother, Karen, have raised more than $1,200 for the Impact Oasis, which will be funding his project, through car washes and a pancake breakfast but they are not done yet.

On July 30 from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., diners at the on 35 in Middletown will have the opportunity to donate 10 percent of their bill by presenting a flyer, which can be found here.

Impact OASIS promotes inclusion and acceptance of autistic individuals into their local communities by establishing farm centers that provide meaningful work, and healthy residences and community interaction.

In Sept. Impact OASIS will be hosting eight young adults on the autism spectrum, ages 18 to 27 from Middletown and neighboring towns and provide them with transitional program that Barbara D’Augusta, Board Member of Impact OASIS, describes as  “transition from high school to college”.

Students will be enrolled in instructional programs 4-year-program in social skills and language comprehension within an agricultural and vocational setting allowing students to take on jobs at the program’s farm.

Volunteers and donations sustain many of Impact OASIS’s programs, D’Augusta said.
