Water Resources and Engineering Economics

Welcome to my Blog. In it you will read about water related issues that are in the news and on my mind. Most recently we have heard about drinking water contamination issues in West Virginia and water shortages due to drought in California. All of these issues are solvable, but engineering economics need to be factored in. For example - Fresh water can be piped in from long distances, but the costs are too high compared to just trucking in potable water (which also has high costs).

This is where water treatment and water re-use are a huge answer. Most importantly, eliminating or greatly reducing contamination needs to be looked at first. Next, wastewater can be put through a series of mechanical and chemical processes to make it potable. I will be discussing all of these things as my blog progresses.
