Copper Canyon, owned by Head Chef Michael Krikorian, is easy to miss as you drive down First Avenue in the Atlantic Highlands. Without the usual ostentatious signs that indicate your arrival at many eateries, the unassuming horseshoes in the windows are the only give away that you've found the town's popular restaurant known for its margaritas and fresh creative take on south-western cuisine.

Krikorian's dedication to his craft is clear, but what is most noticeable is his devotion to the community. At a recent visite, the walls were plastered with red paper horseshoes earmarking customer donations to ALS research. After apologizing for only having a limited time to discuss his restaurant, he explained that Copper Canyon was in the process of preparing for two benefit events including the ALS Carnival for Pals, a cause he invested in after one of his customers was diagnosed with the disease.

Copper Canyon is conveniently located near the beach. Two separate sides to the restaurant provide a place for those wishing to enjoy a formal sit-down dinner as well as those looking for a drink at the bar with friends. Busy on the weekends, reservations for large parties are recommended. For information on tequila tastings and special events, please visit the website or contact the restaurant directly. Public lots are located nearby. Street parking is limited with time restrictions.
