The Office of Emergency Management (OEM) is responsible for determining how the township functions during emergency or disaster conditions. It regularly conducts preparedness drills and assists other organizations with their emergency plans. The OEM also educates the public on how to be prepared for emergencies. The office has also set up coastal evacuation routes and runs the emergency radio station AM 1620 to provide up-to-the-minute updates and information in case of an emergency, including hurricanes. It is currently focused on the Bayshore area of Middletown.
