New Monmouth Diner, formerly The Middletown Diner, way formerly The Shamrock, has provided consistently good diner-style meals for years. When it was the Shamrock, not since the late 1990s, the food seemed to have taken a dip. But, since then, in whatever incarnation, this has proven to be a quality restaurant. My personal favorite is still the French Dip!

The New Monmouth Diner has a new name but is still run by its original owners, the Kostantinopolis family. The diner is a landmark in Middletown and was founded in 1967. New Monmouth Diner is a classic New Jersey diner with its blue-colored shiny steel frame exterior. There are often classic car shows in the parking lot.

This diner was far better under the old ownership. Now you pay more money for lesser-quality food. Service has also gone downhill. There are better choices in the area.
