Old Village Fire Company was established in 1955 making it the last of the area's 11 voluneteer fire companies to be created. Middletown is said to have one of the largest all-volunteer fire departments in the world. It serves an area of approximately five miles in western Middletown. Much of this coverage area includes the busy commercial corridor along Route 35. The company has two engines and one support unit.
