The Middletown Municipal Alliance for the Prevention of Alcoholism and Drug Abuse is an organization comprised of concerned citizens with a common goal of eliminating drug and alcohol abuse in the community. Created in 1990, in response to the Governor's Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse (GCADA), the Alliance established a network of community based resources to proactively help prevent and treat substance abuse. Since its inception, the Alliance has created various programs to achieve its goal, including preventative education programs, such as "K.I.D.S." (Kids Instructed on Dangerous Substances), "G.L.A.D." (Grown-ups Learning About Drugs) and "Project P.L.U.S." (Peer Leaders Understanding Students).
