New York Yankees and Manchester City have teamed up to bring a new professional soccer team to NYC by 2015.
The New York Red Bulls, who call Harrison their home, will not be the only face of professional footy in the metropolitan area for much longer. New York City is planning to kick the ball around in the MLS come the spring of 2015. Major League Soccer Commissioner Dan Garber announced the birth of the newest franchise in the MLS: the New York City Football Club. The new club will be owned by 2012 Barclay’s Premier League champions Manchester City and the 27 time World Series champion New York Yankees. “This opportunity is huge for us and huge for the city. Colts lost to Rams, 2-1.
The Christian Brothers Academy lost to Southern Regional in the Shore Conference Tournament final in Manahawkin on Thursday. The Rams lost the first game 25-20 but beat out the Colts by 25-14 and 25-17 in the next two games, according to APP.com. This is Southern Regional's fifth SCT win. Are you a Colts fan? Estimated 400,000 people expected in region; team practices to be held in Florham Park and Media Day in Newark
The 2014 Super Bowl at MetLife Stadium is expected to have a $550 million economic impact on New Jersey and New York, with an estimated 400,000 people in the region, according to a report on dailyrecord.com. If you were thinking of skipping the gym today, you'll have to think of better excuses.
The young have no more excuses when it comes to working out. Cindy Carney has been teaching fitness for four years in Marlboro, to seniors at Sunrise Senior Living. One of her students is 101-years-old. Carney said she has some students who are with her weekly, as she teaches fitness to increase mobility and strength in her students. Exercises include balancing on one leg, squats to increase leg strength and make it easier to get out of a chair, and cardio to up the heart rate and strengthen the heart. So if you were thinking of skipping the gym today, you'll have to think of better excuses.

Marty Kenney is the fourth coach in state history to hit the landmark, according to Shore Sports Network.
Christian Brothers Academy baseball coach Marty Kenney celebrated his 700th career win on Thursday, according to Shore Sports Network. Kenney has coached the Colts for 40 years and the milestone came with a 1-0 victory over Middletown South, the report stated. Only four coaches in the history of New Jersey high school baseball are members of the 700-club and only two are currently living: Toms River South coach Ken Frank and now Kenney, Shore Sports Network reported.

Over 40 members of the Jersey Shore Running Club participated in the marathon.
Text messages and phone calls flew rapidly among members of the Jersey Shore Running Club (JSRC) Monday. Any other year, these would have been messages of congratulations for the 40 or so club members running the challenging Boston Marathon course. Instead, the communications took on urgency: are they all safe? Moira Easton Haron of Spring Lake Heights ran faster than her planned marathon time and finished ahead of the explosions. Krissy Suckow of Wall made it out of Boston and was on her way home. All the JSRC members were indeed fine. With the club’s largest racing event, RunAPalooza, set to take place in Asbury Park on Saturday, JSRC leaders called for a show of solidarity at the event.
