County Dems Endorse Candidates

Monmouth County's Democratic organization taps local to national candidates

The Monmouth County Democratic Party has endorsed Democrats for county and national races in the November election, officials said. In national races, the organization tapped Barack Obama for president; Robert Menendez for U.S. Senate; Frank J. Pallone Jr. for the House of Representatives in the 6th Legislative District, Rush Holt for the House of Representatives in the 12th Legislative District, and Brian Froelich, Spring Lake, for the 4th Congressional district, officials said. This year, Middletown resident and state Sen. Pallone Discusses Impact of Affordable Care Act

The congressman marked the second anniversary of health care bill's passage with a visit to Greenbriar Clubhouse in Marlboro.

Rep. Frank J. Pallone Jr. (D-NJ) visited the Greenbriar Clubhouse in Marlboro Thursday to discuss the impact of the Affordable Care Act on seniors. Pallone was a principal author for the health care bill, which was signed into law on March 23, 2010. The intention of the bill is to create cost-cutting opportunities for seniors living on Medicare and Medicaid with a fixed income, he said. The Affordable Care Act stresses preventative services to alleviate the cost the government and hospitals bear with patients on Medicare in nursing homes and hospitals, Pallone said. Co-payments for services such as annual wellness visits, colonoscopies and mammograms are waived for Medicare and Medicare Advantage seniors through the Affordable Care Act. "…
