Information regarding bus pick-up and drop-off for commuters, as well as information regarding a new ferry from Hoboken to Midtown.
NJ Transit will continue to offer emergency buses for New York City commuters as they work to repair damage to certain bridges and rail lines, according to spokeswoman Nancy Snyder. Emergency buses will operate inbound from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. and will return commuters from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. The bus and ferry service listed in the chart below is free. Ramsey Station Route 17, Ramsey Ferries from Liberty State Park also operate for free between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m., however buses will not be available at that time from the original destinations listed above. App is free and designed to streamline ticketing, messaging
Ferry commuters can now use a new app to navigate smoother sailing with scheduling, ticketing and more. NY Waterway, the operator of the commuter ferry service out of the Belford Ferry Terminal in Middletown, has announced that it has released a “100 percent smart device-based app that incorporates payment and ticketing, all in one,” a statement from the company said. With the app, conventional ticketing is no longer needed. “Your smart device becomes your mobile ticket purchasing option and your boarding pass,” said Paul Goodman, CEO of NY Waterway’s subsidiary Billybey Ferry Company in a released statement. The transportation system, from Belford to NYC and back, mixes daily expedience with convenience
It’s a quarter past 6 a.m. on a frost-covered Thursday morning. Passengers sprint across the parking lot of the county’s Belford Ferry Terminal. The grounds are just barely visible in the half-light of the hour and bleary eyes of the early starter commuters who begin their workday on that NY Waterway boat ride from the Middletown dock to New York City. Inside of the depot, the harried patrons hastily affix lids onto cups of coffee and retrieve bags with a streamlined, systematic style. They make for the rear door where the two ferries are docked.
