Car Drives Off Parkway, Crashes Into Another on Middletown-Lincroft Road

Both drivers were taken to the hospital.

A car traveling in the Garden State Parkway southbound expresss lanes near mile marker 112 in Middletown went off the roadway, down an embankment, and crashed into a vehicle traveling along Middletown-Lincroft Road around 6 p.m. Wednesday night. State Police Sgt. Philip Stolfa said that the driver who left the Parkway was airlifted to Jersey Shore Medical Center in Neptune with severe neck pain. The helicopter flew from the fields at Middletown South High School.  "He is possibly going to be charged with DWI," said Stolfa, who said police suspected the driver was under the influence due to his behavior, and what they found in the car.
