Middletown Gets $4M FEMA Grant to Help With Sandy Cleanup
Governing body will also consider a $10 million emergency funding measure at tonight's workshop meeting.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has allocated $4 million in funds to reimburse the towns for debris removal following Hurricane Sandy in a second round of funding. In a statement, Congressman Frank Pallone (NJ-6) said “The resources of our municipalities are stretched thin after Hurricane Sandy,” said Pallone. “This FEMA funding will pay for a significant portion of the extra expenses incurred by the town as they responded to the storm and made sure their residents and roadways were safe.” At a workshop meeting tonight, Middletown Township's governing body will consider a resolution to borrow $10 million in special emergency appropriations to cover the cost of extraordinary expenses, which includes the unexpected costs …
