Police: Pair Tried to Take $191K From Bank Account Using Fake ID
Men allegedly withdrew $6,500 at Middletown Wells Fargo then went back and tried for $185,000 more.
A Queens pair allegedly passed off a fake driver’s license and tried to withdraw $191,500 from another man’s bank account, according to Middletown police. Melvin J. Clarida, 25, and Avery S. Jackson, 25, are accused of going to the Middletown Wells Fargo on three occasions over a two-day period to withdraw the money, court records indicate. On Thursday, Dec. 13, Clarida and Jackson allegedly used a counterfeit Pennsylvania license and successfully withdrew $6,500. The pair then attempted to withdraw another $95,000 on Thursday and $90,000 on Friday, according to an arrest warrant. Not only does Wells Fargo know my first name when I drive up, but they still insist on picture ID. When presented with my license, they want to know why I don't use my debit card for ID? I couldn't get ten bucks out of them with all the money I have deposited there without a big to do, and yet two guys from Queens get to withdraw all that money?
