Middletown's New Sonic Drive-In Revs Up For Business (Video)

On Sunday, Middletown's mayor officially welcomes the retro drive-thru, serviced by skating waiters.

Jay and Cathy Grillo of Keansburg were parked in their car at noon Sunday, feasting on grilled cheese and Tater Tots with ketchup, at Middletown's new Sonic, a new outpost of the national burger fast food chain that features delivery by 1950s-style carhops on roller skates.  It was their second trip to the fast-food restaurant since it opened 10 days ago.  "I like the carhops. It brings back a little face-to-face atmosphere. It's more personal," said Jay Grillo through his rolled down window. His wife was more blunt. "I'm pregnant," she said. The theater in middletown is now target and is much better. The theater in hazlet is a 1 mile away - would it have been better for you if they built it in union square? Still middletown but further away. Ruby Tuesdays has a great avocado turkey burger. Problem with walmart is the urban people.   more ›
