UPDATE: Driver Charged with DWI In Crash in Lincroft Tuesday Night

The driver was extricated from his vehicle by emergency crews and taken to the hospital.

UPDATE from Middletown Police Dept. spokesman Lt. Stephen Dollinger, March 6 at 2:45 pm.:  Ricardo Diaz, 60, of Eatontown was charged with DWI in the crash that occurred on Swimming River Road and Colonial Way at 7:26 p.m. on March 5. Diaz was driving a 2012 Ford wagon on Swimming River Rd, when for an unknown reason he crossed over the center line, causing a Land Rover operated by Kevin Normayle of Colts Neck, traveling in the opposite direction, to strike his car. Diaz’s vehicle continued striking a tree on Swimming River Rd.  Diaz was treated at the scene by the Lincroft First Aid Squad and transported to Jersey Shore Trauma Center for treatment.   Diaz was charged with DWI by investigating officer Ptl. Report: Man is Killed Attempting to Cross the Parkway in Kenilworth

A 21-year-old driver was involved in a crash in Cranford and was later killed attempting to cross the parkway lanes on foot.

A 21-year-old man was killed just before 1 a.m. on Monday following an accident in Cranford on the Garden State Parkway.  The man, identified as Luis Sarmiento of Riverside, by the Star-Ledger, was allegedly crossing the parkway when he was struck by a vehicle going south, according authorities. Unconfirmed reports that night suggest that police were initially alerted to "a body found in the middle of the road," report around 12:50 a.m. near mile market 139.7 in Kenilworth. Sarmiento who was fatally struck by two vehicles as he attempted to cross the parkway, had been walking away from his Honda, which was involved in an accident a half-mile away near Cranford, according to the article. Car Overturns at Route 36 and Texas Avenue in Middletown

The driver was taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center.

A woman was taken to the hospital after the car she was driving overturned at Highway 36 and Texas Ave around 10:15 a.m. Monday morning, said Middletown EMS Spokesman Bob Pfleger.  Middletown Police, Middletown Township First Aid & Rescue Squad, Port Monmouth First Aid Squad, and Port Monmouth Fire Company responded. The driver, who was not identified, was transported by Port Monmouth First Aid to Jersey Shore Medical Center. Correction: This story was corrected at 1:30 pm Feb. 18 to note the driver was a female.

Route 35 Accident in Middletown Closes Right Lane, Delays Traffic

Traffic heading southbound on Route 35 was delayed Wednesday around noon after a two car accident at the intersection of Kings Highway and Route 35.

Traffic on Route 35 heading toward Red Bank was backed up for more than a mile Wednesday after a two-vehicle crash blocked the right lane of Route 35 at the intersection of Kings Highway.  A black Volvo SUV and a silver Acura sedan collided at the intersection of Kings Highway and Route 35 around 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 25. The driver of the sedan was heading across Tindall Road toward Kings Highway, while the driver of the other vehicle was heading southbound on Route 35 prior to collision. One driver refused medical treatment while the other driver was transported to Riverview Medical Center, said Middletown Sgt. Fred Deickmann. Their identities were not disclosed. Pedestrian Dies as Result of Accident

Police: Crash at Route 36 and Thompson Avenue between vehicle and pedestrian is under investigation.

Middletown Township Police have confirmed that a pedestrian died earlier tonight after being struck by a motor vehicle at an intersection in the Leonardo section. The one-vehicle accident at Route 36 and Thompson Avenue occurred at about 5:48 p.m., according to Sgt. Paul Bailey of the police department's Traffic Bureau. The names of the victim, the operator of the vehicle and any passengers have not been released by police pending notification of the next of kin, Bailey said. Bailey also declined to say what type of vehicle struck the pedestrian or to provide any other details about the accident and its aftermath until police and other authorities complete their investigation. There was a serious motor vehicle accident in the Fairview section of Middletown, on Navesink River Road near Route 35, at about 5:30 p.m. The Breaking News Network reported that one person was trapped and semi-conscious. Patch will provide updates as the situation warrants.
