Hurricane Sandy Claims 4 Lives in Ocean County

Two died of hypothermia, one of asphyxia and one drowning

There were four people from Ocean County who lost their lives due to conditions connected to Hurricane Sandy, the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office announced Thursday. “Our thoughts are with these families,” Ocean County Prosecutor Marlene Lynch Ford said. Man Shot By Beachwood Police Officer Died Of Gunshot Wound To Chest

Autopsy on Mark Tanouye done yesterday

The man shot and killed by a Beachwood police officer late Thursday night near the High Velocity Bar and Grill died of a gunshot wound to the chest, Ocean County Executive Assistant Prosecutor Michel A. Paulhus said. The autopsy on 52-year-old Mark Tanouye was performed Friday, he said. Beachwood Sgt. Bruce Harris was in uniform in a marked police cruiser when he responded to a 10:50 p.m. call about a man "creating a disturbance" in the parking lot of the sports bar on Route 166, Paulhus has said. UPDATE: Beachwood Officer Shot Man Who Ignored Commands To Drop Handgun

52-year-old Beachwood man died of injuries, Ocean County Prosecutor's Office says

A man who ignored repeated requests to drop a handgun outside the High Velocity Sports Bar on Route 166 was shot and killed by a Beachwood police officer late last night, Ocean County Executive Assistant Prosecutor Michel Paulhus said. Sgt. Bruce Harris was on routine patrol in a marked police cruiser when he encountered Mark Tanouye, 52, "causing a disturbance" near the sports bar on Route 166 around 10:50 p.m, Paulhus said. Harris, who was in uniform, got out of his patrol car and confronted Tanouye in the sports bar parking lot, said Paulhus. "He ignored repeated commands to drop his weapon," Paulhus said. If I may make a few minor corrections...Don't POINT a firearm at a cop, regardless of real or fake. All the cop sees is the apparent threat.
