Middletown police arrested the following people on charges ranging from shoplifting to DWI ... • On Aug. 6 at 8:50 p.m., Patrolman Ian May responded to the Foodtown Store in reference to a report of a shoplifter. Upon arrival, Officer May was advised by the store manager that he had observed the suspect, identified as James Quirk, 53, from Pineview Avenue, Keansburg, place a bottle of Vodka and a can of beer inside a backpack and walk out of the store. The manager stopped Quirk and detained him until the police arrived. Patrolman May arrested and charged Quirk with shoplifting and transported him to police headquarters for processing. While at headquarters Officer May located an outstanding contempt of court warrant issued by the Atlantic …

Middletown police arrested several people in two days' time on charges ranging from DWI to marijuana possession ... • On Aug. 5 at 9:10 p.m., Patrolman Christian Clark was on patrol in the area of Route 36, in the Navesink section of Middletown, when he observed a vehicle pull out of the A&P Shopping Center and begin traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes of traffic. The officer observed the vehicle almost strike another car head on. Officer Clark was able to stop the vehicle near Valley Drive and approached the driver, identified as Eileen Gaestel, 56, of East Avenue, Atlantic Highlands, at which point he detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from her breath. Middletown police recently arrested the following people on charges ranging from shoplifting to aggravated assault on a police officer ... • On Aug. 3 at 7:05 p.m., Patrolman Michael Pintilie and Patrolman Anthony Dellatacoma responded to a report of a shoplifting at the Staples store located on Route 35. While in route to the store, a description of the vehicle used in the shoplifting was given out to responding officers. Officer Dellatacoma spotted the vehicle on Palmer Avenue and conducted a motor vehicle stop. The officers conducted an investigation that resulted in the driver of the car, identified as Tracy Kiernan, 31, of Avenue A, Keansburg, being arrested and charged with shoplifting. Middletown police arrested the following people recently on charges ranging from marijuana possession to simple assault ... • On Aug. 1 at 10:20 p.m., Patrolman Brian Dilworth was on patrol in the area of Beacon Hill Road when he observed a suspicious vehicle parked on the side of the road. The officer approached the vehicle at which point he detected a strong odor of burnt marijuana coming from inside the car. The officer conducted an investigation that resulted in the recovery of two pipes used to smoke marijuana and a grinder used to process marijuana inside the car. The following people were arrested by Middletown police on various charges in the past few days ... • On July 27 at 8:55 p.m., Patrolman Raymond Sofield and Patrolman James Beirne responded to the Bottle King Liquor Store in reference to two subjects who were attempting to purchase alcohol underage. Upon arrival, the store manager advised the officers that Timothy Dugan, 19, of McCutcheon Court, Middletown, and Sarah Binstok, 18, of Bonwit Road, Ryebrook, NY, attempted to purchase beer by providing a fake Ohio driver’s license. The clerk recognized the license as a fake and contacted the police. Both were arrested and charged with attempting to purchase alcohol underage. Middletown police arrested the following people on charges of marijuana possession and attempt to purchase alcohol under age ... • On July 15 at 11:10 p.m., Patrolman Antonio Ciccone responded to the area of Navesink River Road in reference to a report of a motor vehicle accident. Upon arrival, Officer Ciccone was conducting his investigation when he observed a glass pipe used to smoke marijuana and a prescription bottle containing marijuana in plain view inside the car. Officer Ciccone continued his investigation. Middletown police arrested the following people recently on charges ranging from bicycle theft to marijuana possession ... • On July 18 at 6:55 p.m., Patrolman Jason Caruso and Patrolman Donald Coates were on patrol in the area of Heights Terrace when they observed a suspicious vehicle parked on the side of the road. The officers approached the vehicle to speak with the occupants at which point they detected a strong odor of raw marijuana coming from inside the car. Middletown police arrested the following people on charges ranging from criminal mischief to marijuana possession ... • On July 13 at 1:50 a.m., Patrolman James Beirne was on patrol in the area of Cherry Tree Farm Road when he pulled over a vehicle for multiple motor vehicle violations. Officer Beirne approached the driver, identified as Sergio Amoedo, 23, of Stone Road, Hazlet, and detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath.
