Citizens Halt Man Who Allegedly Snatched Purse From Cart At Target

Police responded to the scene at the parking lot around 4:18 p.m. Thursday.

Middletown Police arrested a township man who allegedly grabbed a woman's purse from a shopping cart in the Target parking lot and tried to take off. He didn't get far, because the woman gave chase and two citizens assisted by halting the alleged robber until police arrived on the scene. Paul Welch, 34 of Chapman Terrace was charged with theft and refusing arrest by pulling his arms away from officers trying to cuff him. He was also charged with child endangerment for leaving a child with autism, legally in his care, in a locked non-running vehicle for two hours in 33 degree weather. Alleged Quick Stop Robbers Nabbed

Middletown police have made an arrest in connection with the recent alleged armed robbery at the Quick Stop convenience store. On Jan. 31 Detectives Laurence Schachtel, Adam Finck and William Strohkirch arrested Christopher Martin, 26, of West Washington Avenue, Atlantic Highlands, and Trevor Pituk, 23, of Center Avenue in the Leonardo section of Middletown. The two are facing charges in connection with the armed robbery at the Leonard Avenue convenience store on Jan. 12. The store is where Middletown native and film director/producer Kevin Smith filmed Clerks. Police: On the Hunt for Rite-Aid Robber

Police say suspect showed gun and fled the scene

Middletown police released the following information concerning an alleged robbery at the Rite Aid Pharmacy in the Lincroft section:            On Jan. 31, at approximately 5:50 p.m., Middletown police responded to a report of an armed robbery at the Rite Aid Pharmacy located on Newman Springs Road in the Lincroft section of Middletown. Police say the suspect was described as a white male with a thin build between five feet, eight inches and six feet tall. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with a grey stripe on the front, large black framed sunglasses and dark colored pants. Police say the suspect entered the pharmacy, lifted up his sweatshirt and exposed a black colored hand gun in his waistband and demanded Oxycodone pills. The …

Arresting Update: Burglary, Robbery, Theft

Middletown Police  arrested the following people recently on burglary, theft, robbery and other charges. • Christopher Dressler, 26, of Twilight Avenue, Keansburg, was arrested on Dec. 18 by Det. Adam Finck and charged with three counts of burglary, two counts of criminal mischief and one count of theft by unlawful taking as a result of an investigation into the burglaries of three homes on Thompson Avenue in the North Middletown section. Dressler was held on $22,500 bail. • Jeffrey Rupell, 55, of Apple Avenue was arrested on Dec. 21 by Detective William Strohkirch and charged with theft of lost or mislaid property as a result of an investigation conducted by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office.
