Long Branch- The city has been working hard over the last few weeks to open as many access points as possible after Hurricane Sandy destroyed them and the city's boardwalk south of Pier Village. The boardwalk will not be repaired this summer, but could be rebuilt in time for the 2014 summer season, officials have said. The city's beaches are open on weekends starting Memorial Day up until the third weekend in June, when they will be open daily. The beach season closes on Labor Day. Clark- Around 6:30 p.m. Caleb Lawrence McGillvary, aka Internet celeb "Kai the Hatchet-Wielding Hitchhiker," was arrested at the Greyhound Bus Terminal in Philadelphia, by members of the Philadelphia Police Department, announced Union County Prosecutor Theodore J. Wall- The former assistant superintendent of Wall Township Schools was indicted Monday morning on charges she failed to immediately report a possible sexual assault of a 4-year-old special needs student by a teacher and then lied to police and tried to cover up her inaction, according to the indictment. Brick- A jury has found Brick resident Anthony DiGilio not guilty of vehicular homicide and assault by vessel in connection with a fatal Aug. 3, 2008 boating accident. The 1 a.m. accident rocked the Jersey Shore boating community and a subsequent investigation led to charges being brought against DiGilio, who was at the helm of a 27-foot Imperial performance boat when the accident occurred in the area where the Metedeconk River converges with Barnegat Bay in Brick. Toms River- With the help of his father, Eric Katz spent over three years renovating the house that allowed him to live how he wanted. The 30 year-old paraplegic has been in a wheelchair since age 15, but that never stopped him from living an active and independent life. Then Superstorm Sandy struck. Brick- The fire that destroyed the Camp Osborn neighborhood during Superstorm Sandy was captured in an up-close video and uploaded to YouTube by way of a Mexican news site Oct. 31, 2012, but the video has only recently surfaced locally.
