You are misinformed.
FEMA was "working" on giving us the new flood maps. Because of SANDY they were released early to "help" us rebuild.
We would have had the new maps in the next year or so. then we would have had to raise our homes or had to pay exorbidant flood insurance premiums.
Please read up on the Biggert Waters Act. This affects 25% of ALL homes in America situated in a flood zone.

this is not a Toms River law. This is part of FEMA's LAW. If it is substantially damaged FEMA requires it.
Most people need to understand that 98% of all our issues are caused by the Biggert Waters Act. It all has to do with FEMA.

I agree, it is taking quite a long time for people to "wake up". Unfortunately people are "SANDY Zombies" going from FEMA to SBA, trying to rebuild,fighting with their insurance companies and are just now learning about the flood insurance premiums and raising their homes. Over 365,000 homes were directly impacted by the storm. They will join our fight when they open up their new Flood Insurance Premiums.
Build it and they will come.
