I love how you sign this "Respectfully" after accusing them of:

"This travesty is incomprehensible, unwarranted, unacceptable, and suspect to your commitment as a member of this Board based on your sworn, signed Oath of
Office, and the duties therein. Conspicuous is the lack of concern for the welfare and inspiration for the future of these children, 3 to 11 years of age."

tell you what, if you are so concerned -- you should run for the BOE. If not, then you have to respect the right of the board members to vote as they see fit. Perhaps if you politely asked them to reconsider as opposed to slandering them...

People not voting can be looked at two ways, one of which is that they are content with the way things are going. Seems like a case of sour grapes A. Simon...

On the contrary A Simon, it would seem that the voters have done precisely that and it is apparent that they strongly endorse both the BOE and the TC.

What I said is reality. "Public input" is impossible, especially on personnel matters. That's just common sense...

I love how so many don't understand how democracy works, and how that intersects with employment law.

First, the BOE are the elected representatives of the people. It is neither possible nor practical for them to "consult" or "get input" from the public on personnel matters.

Second, If they discussed these issues with the public they would get sued for not respecting the employees rights to privacy. If the employee did not get hired for another job, they would be sued again for unlawful interference with the former employee's employment opportunities.

No, they did what they thought was right. While they should consider the recommendation of the Superintendent, the decision was theirs, period. No "public input," no "revealing the facts." You have two options if you don't like that: attempt to get the legislature to change the law to allow transparency on personnel matters, and/or elect someone who you think will give you a call and ask your opinion before they vote on something...

Where do Middletown's taxes stand in comparison with the rest of the towns in the County? Seems to me that the last few budgets had very small tax increases despite two straight years with hurricanes. Or are you going to talk about the MAC costing so much again, despite the fact that you apparently like the MAC?

07748 - Your ignorance of how things work is appalling... The Library's funding is totally separate from the Town's budget. You don't like the Arts Center - we get that. Many residents do, however, and many thousands attend events, exhibits and classes there every year.

But don't pretend that money allocated to the MAC in any way comes from funds that should be going to the Library... That's just now how things work.

07748 - my understanding is that the Library funding has declined for the last three or four years and will take a big Sandy related hit next year. Can you point to some specifics about transferring Library $ to the MAC? I thought that the Library funding was set to a percentage of total property valuation in town by law?

Maybe the people who live in East Keansburg should be allowed to vote for the name of their town, huh? How would that come out?

Again, I have to raise the issue of why the Middletown Patch is allowing what appears to be a paid lobbyist who is not discussing something to do with Middletown, and who clearly does not live in Middletown a voice here. Do these paid lobbyists pay the Patch to allow them to be called "local voices?" If so, then their articles should be identified as a "paid advertisement.

C'mon Middletown Patch. :Lets keep this space for Middletown!

Mom, the town has a highly skilled, highly qualified state certified municipal finance specialist as the CFO. I don't believe that a Finance Committee would be of any real assistance, but ultimately the decision to have or not have one lies with the TC. So far they have not decided to create one.

Perhaps a future TC will make such a choice. I can understand frustration at losing election after election. But I cannot understand blind condemnation of anything and everything the TC does, or for that matter, anything and everything the township staff does.

To an outside observer it sure seems like sour grapes...
