Man Allegedly Tried to Pass Fake Prescription at Middletown Rite Aid

The Keansburg man was indicted on two charges stemming from the April incident.

A Monmouth County grand jury recently voted to indict a Keansburg man on charges he forged a Xanax prescription, according to court documents.

Police say Robert Werthwein, 31, tried to use a forged prescription at a Rite Aid in Middletown on April 26 in order to obtain the anti-anxiety medication.
Werthwein was indicted on two counts, including third degree attempting to obtain a controlled dangerous substance by fraud and second degree uttering a forged instrument.

An indictment does not indicate a conviction, only that a grand jury voted there was enough evidence to proceed with a trial.
