Car Catches Fire After Crash on Route 35 in Middletown

A car caught fire after striking a tree Tuesday morning on Route 35 in Middletown, according to Detective Lt. Steve Dollinger.

The female driver lost control of her car shortly before 10 a.m. while driving south on Route 35 near Oak Hill Road, Dollinger said.

The accident temporarily shut down the southbound lanes of the highway, but the road has since reopened.

The driver suffered minor injuries.

Members of the Middletown Police Department, Fire Department and First Aid Squad all responded to the scene.

The accident remains under investigation.
