UPDATE: Brookdale Evacuation Order Ended

Gas smell led college to order evacuation on Lincroft campus.

Update, 12:51 p.m.: The evacuation has ended but the Student Life Center will be closed Friday due to fumes.

The college posted the following on its Facebook page

BROOKDALE UPDATE (February 22, 2013 12:43pm): Due to gas fumes, the Student Life Center is closed for the remainder of today, Friday, February 22nd. The evacuation has ended for The Main Academic Complex, including the Library, MAN, MAS, CHHANGE and CAR.

Brookdale Community College ordered the evacuation of the Main Academic Complex on the Lincroft campus shortly before noon on Friday because of a gas smell.

According to social media postings on the college's Twitter and Facebook accounts, students, visitors and employees should leave the complex immediately.

Here is the message posted on the college's Facebook page: 

Brookdale Update: There is a gas smell in the Main Academic Complex on the Lincroft campus, which may or may not be related to the fuel line separation. Please evacuate the main academic complex immediately. More information will be provided as it becomes available.
